About Me - BIO

Euphonium Soloist, Brass Clinician, Educator

Carina Lam is a euphoniumist and conductor recognized for her versatility as a performer, educator, and ensemble leader. She was the first Canadian euphoniumist to study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester, England, where she earned her Master’s degree in Solo Performance under world-renowned soloist Steven Mead. She also holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.

Carina’s performance record includes appearances with the Fairey Band, Pemberton Old Wigan Brass Band, and the Lancashire Artillery Volunteer Band in the UK, as well as featured performances with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Band, Wilfrid Laurier University Wind Orchestra, Markham Concert Band, and Southampton Summer Music Festival Winds. She was awarded the Terence Nagle Prize in the RNCM Solo Competition for the premiere of a commissioned work that was later published. Carina has also appeared at the Prairie Music Residency (Saskatoon, SK), the International Women’s Brass Conference (IWBC), and with Upper Canada Brass.

As an educator, Carina has delivered masterclasses to students of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), the University of Toronto, the McMaster University Marching Band, and numerous schools across Southern Ontario.

In her military career, Carina serves as the Director of Music for the 7th Toronto Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, following more than 14 years with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Band, where she held multiple musical and leadership roles.

Carina is an active performer with the Weston Silver Band and the Hannaford Street Silver Band. A passionate leader in the brass community, she serves on the Canadian Women’s Brass Collective Committee and founded the Toronto Tuba Euphonium Symposium (TOTES). As a Buffet Crampon/Besson and LeFreQue Artist, Carina champions musical excellence, accessibility, collaboration, and innovation in performance and education.

When she’s not making music, Carina is a proud fur mom to two dogs and one cat. She’s known for her “chaos-to-calm” projects—approaching each with creativity, practicality, and a sharp eye for detail. To her, organization is a form of everyday artistry—where design meets purpose, and function becomes something deeply satisfying.
